Mala Walk on the base of Uluru

I would like to visit the base of Uluru, and Kata Tjuta with two children aged 6. Is there some way we can do this without 8 hours in a tour bus?

Uluru Tours - from where?

Hello Susan,

You didn't say where you want to start the tour.

So are you looking for a tour from the Ayers Rock/Yulara resort? This doesn't involve much driving as the rock is only 18km from the resort.

I have listed a few tours on my Uluru tours page.
These are usually half-day tours with no long hours in a bus.

It is a different story when you want a tour from Alice Springs to Uluru. There are different tours available, from one-day (too much driving) to up to 4 days. checkout the Alice Springs Tours page for more information.

Or where you asking for a tour from Brisbane?

uluru with children

So easy - just hire a car at the airport. If you are staying a few days there are several family friendly options available at various accommodation places. Then take the 20 minute drive out to the rock, paying the toll on the way (it lasts for three days).
There's some lovely walks and all are sign-posted and have lovely shade-houses at each rest stop, made out of the natural grasses. And there's no shortage of seats. Make sure you take a jacket,
it gets cool in the evenings, suntan cream, a fly-net just in case they're bad on the day,( but you may not need it) , and some drinking water and fruit for the kids. Visit the cultural centre
and take a drive out to the Olgas about 40 minutes away - they are also fabulous.
