Sydney to Uluru and back
Sand dunes in the red centre
I would like to get to Uluru and back to Sydney using 2 different tracks. Response to Sydney to Uluru and backby: RitaHi Pietro, Do you want to go rough, on unsealed routes, or do you just mean different routes from Sydney to Uluru? If you've got a 4WD car, you can take the Sydney - Broken Hill route, via Nyngan & Cobar, and then on the Barrier Hwy into South Australia. Leave the highway in Yunta, drive through the back of the Flinders Ranges to Balcanoona. This road is a bit bumpy, but okay in dry conditions. Turn left at Balcanoona to Copley, and then north to Marree and the Oodnadatta Track. You'll hit the Stuart Highway at Marla for the remaining drive to Uluru. There are several options for the route back to Sydney, depending on how much time you want to spend at Uluru, and if you want to go to Kings Canyon and the MacDonnell Ranges as well. 3 weeks is just a bit short to explore much in the red centre, and do a lot of extra driving on scenic routes on the way to and from Sydney. Again, it also depends on your car. Don't forget that Off-Road driving takes more time. Check out the pages below for more information. Give me some more details and ask more questions.
