Between Marree and William Creek

Hi Rita, The road from Marree to William Creek or Marree is it suitable for 2wd drive or only 4 wd? Is it best to stay in Marree and take tours from there at all.
Love your website look forward to hearing from you, If possible thinking of going early May 2011.

Thanks for the kind words, I am glad you love the Outback Guide.

Yes, all roads in the Oodnadatta Track area are good to use with a 2 WD in dry weather. When you look at the Outback Road report there are still section only open for 4 WD at the moment, but the section between Marree and William Creek is fine.
Just drive carefully.

The public access routes to the shore of Lake Eyre North are definitely 4 WD only. I am not sure if there are many driving tours to Lake Eyre from Marree or William Creek. Gosh, they would make good business right now.
There are tours to the lake area from Marree, run by local Aborigines. I think you can book a tour from the Arabunna Centre in Marree.
Scenic flights over Lake Eyre are available both from Marree and William Creek.

Thankyou so much for your prompt reply really and truly appreciated. Am used to travelling up and down the Stuart and have not used that road before so just wanted to know. Will probably go to Wilpena pound resort for a couple of nights and then up it to Maree and may William Creek in order to fly over the Lake
