Playing golf in the outback
Golf Course in Australia
hello, Response to playing golf in the Outbackby RitaHi, I am pretty sure you'll come along many golf courses when you travel in Australia. After all, Australia is home of Greg Norman, and other internationally successful golf players. Golf is a popular sport in Australia. The standard of golf courses varies from first class courses that rival with the best in the world, to Outback courses which are grass less, and players bring a patch of artificial grass to tee off. Coober Pedy is famous for having such a course. Nearly every country town has a golf club, and the good thing is that golf is very affordable in Australia. Many clubs are open to the public, and travellers. Sometimes you'll share the fairway with kangaroos or other native wildlife. And yes, very often you can hire equipment as well. As for your route, there are 18 holes courses in Moree and Broken Hill, both open for a green fee of 20 to 30 dollars. Do you know that just recently the world's longest 18-hole par 72 golf course (1365 km across the Australian Outback) was opened on the Nullarbor plain in South Australia? BTW, there's another guy from the Netherlands who travels from Brisbane to Adelaide and Melbourne in January. He obviously uses the same route... your golf partner? Have a great trip. Rita
