Pictures of Parachilna Gorge

We would like to travel from Wilpena Pound to Parachilna via Blinman. We are towing a 20 foot caravan which is not an off roader. Would this be unwise?

Parachilna Gorge

Hi Jeanette,

The road from Wilpena Pound to Blinman is sealed and shouldn't be a problem, although after rain, there could be water in the creek crossings and floodways.

The road from Blinman to Parachilna is a winding road with some steep sections.
It really depends on when you go and what the weather has been like before. After rain there can be washouts and the creek crossings have water.

I don't have experience towing anything. I have added some photos, not the best quality because they were taken while driving. Hopefully, they help to judge if you can handle the road with your caravan.
As always, ask locals and fellow travellers about their opinions.

Parachilna Gorge is lovely, so is Brachina Gorge to the south. So if conditions are rough, it is really worth to leave the caravan in Blinman and do a round trip through these gorges.
