Motorbike from Ayers Rock to Sydney

Hi
I'm thinking of riding my bike off road from Ayers Rock to Sydney. Is this possible? If so, what route and any idea on the petrol stops? I have about a 400km range but will carry a jerry can as well.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Hi,

sure it is possible if your motorbike can handle the bumpy roads.

You'd go from Ayers Rock to Marla on the Stuart Highway, leave the bitumen and take the Oodnadatta Track to Marree and further south to the Flinders Ranges.
Then along the Barrier Hwy to Broken Hill. Now you can stay on the Barrier Hwy, go via Cobar, Nyngan Dubbo to Sydney.

Another option (with more dirt roads) would be from Broken Hill to Menindee, to Ivanhoe, Hillston, West Wyalong, across the Blue Mountains to Sydney.

With a 400km range (and a jerry can) you should be okay. Just fuel up whenever you can along the road. Take good maps that will also show you where you get fuel.

Don't forget to take water, spare parts and a few tools.
