Hi Rita,
This is a great web site. We are leaving on the 25th June, and intend to head to S.A. and go on the Oodnadatta Track to Coober Pedy. What is the condition of the road like after all the rain?

This is the only off road travelling we will be doing as we only have 4 week to get to Darwin and back. We will be travelling in a Landcruiser and towing a camper trailer. Is there any special spots to camp?

Hi Catherine,

I am glad you find the Outback Guide helpful, thanks :).

After the rain the Oodnadatta Track is a bit rough with lots of wheel ruttings. Drive slowly and carefully, especially at the creek crossings, and you won't have problems with the Landcruiser.
Check the Outback roads reports, they update the site frequently and give you the latest information.
The William Creek to Coober Pedy road is still 4WD only, and you have one, so you'll be fine.

Coward Springs is a really nice spot to camp. It is between Marree and William Creek, and has basic facilities, and a wonderful hot spa, wetlands and birdlife.
Do you plan to drive to Lake Eyre, or take flight to see the water?
