Driving holiday from Sydney to Uluru

Sunset at Uluru

Hi, We are looking at doing a driving holiday from Sydney to Uluru. We will be driving in a Holden Commodore so we will need to stick to sealed roads. We have about 3 weeks to get there and back. We will be travelling with 2 children. Do you have any suggestions on how to do this and make it as enjoyable as possible? Thanks

Hi,

This a favourite trip that has been discussed here on the Outback Guide a couple of times.
Although I don't know how old your children are, I'd suggest to take their favourite cassettes/CDs, books and toys to keep them entertained while driving.
Plan frequent stops, take water, soft drinks and some snacks for the daily touring.
You probably won't have much time for detours, but Coober Pedy is really worth to explore.

The pages listed below are full of information about the route from Sydney to Uluru, especially about the section north of Port Ausgusta.

Happy planning,
Rita
