Permission needed to camp at Parachilna Gorge?

I am organising a 50th birthday and would like to hold it at Parachilna Gorge as this ends the journey of the Heysen Trail. I would like to know if I need any special permissions to hold this in the area. It will be self catered with about 40 people and would like to know any restriction.

Thank you very much

Hi Ingrid,

Basically, you don't need permission to camp at Parachilna Gorge. However, camping with such a large group is a different story. I don't know if you need permission for your planned birthday party.

Actually, I can't think of a place large enough for cars, tents etc. for 40 people within the gorge. Angorichina Village is the only camping spot with facilities I know.

Camping at a free spot without facilities (toilets) with such a large group seems to be a problem to me. It might be a good idea to contact the officer for the Heysen Trail for more advice.

Sorry I can't offer you a satisfying answer.
Good luck for your planning, and have fun.

Rita
