Brisbane to Birdsville Races Road Tripby Katy
Windorah sand dunes
Hello, Response to Brisbane to Birdsville Races Road Tripby: RitaHi Katy, The shortest route would be straight west to Dalby, Charleville, Quilpie and Windorah. These roads are all sealed, there are plenty towns to get fuel and supplies. Don't miss the beautiful sand dunes just outside of Windorah. Beyond Windorah things get different. It is 386 km from Windorah to Birdsville, the first 100 km are still on a sealed road. I really can't say what vehicle you'll need. It depends on the weather, how road conditions are after the recent floods, the car, and the driver. These are things I can't judge. Whichever car you take, you need to carry enough fuel and water as there are no supplies along the way. Other visitors had similiar questions, check them out Windorah to Birdsville Travelling from Windorah QLD to Birdsville The Queensland travel tips page has info about facilities in this area, so this might be helpful as well. For the latest road conditions call 1300 130 595 (recorded), or check the Queensland road conditions on the RACQ website. For Outback South Australia the telephone number is 1300 361 033, and the website is Outback roads warnings. Happy planning, and have a safe trip. Rita Need a map?
