Australian Cattle Drive
by Annmarie McPolin
Road sign on the Oodnadatta Track
Hi, Response to Australian Cattle Driveby RitaHi Annmarie, yes, joining the Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive would be a good way to experience the real Australia. The 2010 cattle drive is held on Anna Creek Station on the Oodnadatta Track. With 24,000 kmē (nearly the size of Belgium), this is Australia's largest working cattle station. No worries, you don't need any horse riding skills. They will find the right horse for you, and match you with a group with the same riding skills. You can also have a day rest day, and join a tour in the area instead. You'll find a lot more info on my Great Australian Cattle drive vacation page. The price for each tour is 3,200 Australian dollar per person for 4 nights/5 days. Bookings can be made through the Cattle Drive Website. They have also a list of travel agencies that take bookings. If you are going to join the cattle drive, have lots of fun, and please, come back and tell us how it was. Rita |
