* I am back from Australia *

This newsletter is overdue, actually more than overdue! I apologise for the long gap since the last bush telegraph was sent to you.
Guess what? I spent a month in Australia on a wonderful Outback trip. So watch out for new pages to be added to the website at regular intervalls.

My husband Peter and I travelled with our Australian mates Colin and Michele. We spent a few days on Mt. Ive station in the Gawler Ranges, then we passed my favourite Outback town Marree and headed to the Gammon Ranges and Flinders Ranges. Lots of beautiful Outback scenery, wildlife and impressions.

A thunderstorm and heavy rains nearly flooded our camp at Mt. Ive station.

The Outback Guide's transition to the new design is complete now. The newsletter also got a slightly new look. I hope you like the new look. While I was changing the pages, I added new bits and pieces. So it is always worth to check older pages as well.
Thanks to everyone who cared to write to me. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

The Outback Guide offers information about the regions in the eastern Outback, including tips and advice to plan a safe trip. Check out the different sections of the Outback Travel Tips pages for suggestions on accommodation. I stayed at quite a few of these places, and enjoyed them very much.

I am not a travel agent. However, I frequently get requests about tour packages, where to book flights, and accommodation options.
So I have partnered with online services like InfoHub, Kayak UK and HotelsCombined to offer you the tools to plan your Outback holiday.

* New pages *

  • Rawnsley Park Station was one of the destinations we stayed at on my recent trip.
  • Rawnsley Park accommodation Staying on a station is a great way to experience the Australian Outback. Rawnsley Park is a top spot on the list of Flinders Ranges accommodation.
  • Boulder opal is another page about the beautiful Australian gemstones. Boulder opal is unique to Outback Queensland.
  • Worldwide travel links offers you links to quality travel websites from all around the world, just in case you want to go elsewhere.
  • Travel directories offer more access to search for travel related sites. the pages also has many interesting links and tips for webmasters, and those of you who would like to start a webstie or internet business.

* Outback News

While I was in Australia, a few rain fronts crossed the continent. I reckon the rain was not enough to bring relief to the drought-stricken country.
The news of a rare event was heard everywhere - the bushtelegraph worked! Everyone was talking about the Tood River in flood. This usually dry riverbed runs through the centre of Alice Springs.
A flow of water in the Todd is an event for the locals. The news spread right across the country.
I wish I had the chance to be there. Watch this video on YouTube and see how much water runs down the river.

Did you join an unique Outback event? Why don't you share it with the readers of the Bush Telegraph? We'd love to hear from you. Send your story to The_Bush_Telegraph@ritas-outback-guide.com and be a contributor to the next edition of this newsletter.

I hope you enjoyed the news from the Outback.

Until next time.

See ya, Rita
