Rita's Outback Guide celebrated its 1st birthday in June. I thought it is about time to give the site a completely new look. So don't be surprised, and think you're on the wrong website, when you see the new homepage. By now only a few pages have changed. The complete process might take a few weeks. Don't worry, the site will be accessible all the time. And of course all the information, and your favourite pages will still be there.
Please let me know if you like the new look, hopefully you do :). Don't be shy, I'd love to hear your opinion! You can either reply to this newsletter, or use the contact form on my website.
* Outback Guide News *
I hope you all enjoyed the new pages I introduced to you in the last edition. As always, if you're looking for specific subjects, please refer to the table of content to find the stuff you are looking for. Here are the recently added pages.
We always want to know what the weather is like when we go on holidays, right? The Australian climate page helps you to find the perfect time to visit the Australian Outback. As Australia is such a huge country, there'll be always a region with nice weather. However, you want to know that you pick the best time for your destination.
The Outback Guide has a German page! For visitors from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, I added the page Australien souvenirs. Here you can browse for travel guides, maps, and books written in German. There are also CDs of my favourite Australian artists and other souvenirs available.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Coober Pedy a few years back. Australia's opal capital is truly an unique place. Don't miss it when you are in this part of Outback South Australia. Staying in one of those underground Coober Pedy hotels is an exciting experience.
I am going to add more about Australian opal towns and regions soon. A visit to the opal fields in South Australia, New South Wales or Queensland is a journey into true Outback country.
* Coming Outback events *
Outback events are an enjoyable occasion for Outback folks. People travel 100 km ore more to join a race, a rodeo, or a B&S ball in the next town. Why do not join while you are out there?
5th and 6th September 2008 - Birdsville Races - The Birdsville race weekend is one of the biggest events in the Outback. Thousands of visitors make their way to the remote town to have a ball. The races are the starting point of the Diamantina race carnival.
So if you've got some time, stay in the region beyond Birdsville and visit the Bedourie races one week later. Finally, on the 3rd weekend in September, the ghost town of Betoota comes alive for it annual race event.
Did you join an unique Outback event? Why don't you share it with the readers of the Bush Telegraph? We'd love to hear from you. Send your story to The_Bush_Telegraph@ritas-outback-guide.com and be a contributor to the next edition of this newsletter.
I hope you enjoyed the news from the Outback.
Until next time.
See ya, Rita
