From Adelaide to the bush

G'day,

First of all, thank you for subscribing to my newsletter, and welcome to all new subscribers.

The Bush Telegraph is the newsletter of Rita's Outback Guide that'll inform you about

  • updates on Rita's Outback Guide
  • festivals and events in the Outback. If you're planning a trip, don't miss this great opportunity to include an unique Outback event to your itinerary!
  • breaking news from the Outback and Australia
  • Every now and then I will add a personal story from my numerous Outback trips.

I hope you had a good start into the new year.

One of my resolutions for the new year is to send out this newsletter at regular intervals.

I am still inspired by my recent trip to Australia, so there a quite a few new pages on the Outback Guide, and many more are to come.

From Adelaide to the bush, this means I have added some information about South Australia's capital city.
From all major Australian cities I've visited to far, I know Adelaide best.

Don't worry, I am not disloyal to the Outback, I just thought that visitors from overseas also need some information about Australia's major cities. After all, the big cities, that's where they arrive and start any trip around Australia.

* New pages *

  • Adelaide, South Australia - Despite Adelaide's size, I think it is a very laid-back place. If the hustle and bustle of the city is too much for you, it only takes a short drive to escape to the rural areas of the Adelaide Hills, or to one of the excellent beaches along Gulf St. Vincent.
  • Adelaide weather - We all want to know about the weather at our holiday destinations, don't we?
  • Rundle Mall - Historic buildings, excellent arcades, Rundle Mall offers 1001 and shops and an exciting shopping experience. But it is not only about shopping!
  • Adelaide accommodation in the city - Personally, I usually look for accommodation at the edge of a city. However, if you only stay a few days, and want to explore Adelaide's attractions, why not stay in the city centre and walk to the must see places?
  • Adelaide beach apartments - Are you a beach lover? Check out Adelaide's apartments on the beaches. It is well worth to relax and enjoy the white beaches for a couple of days. The scenery is stunning.
  • Maps of Adelaide - Two maps of Adelaide to explore the attractions. The recommended accommodation places are included in the maps.
  • Find cheap flights to Australia - This is a page especially interesting for everyone outside Australia. However, Aussies can use the tools as well to search for a cheap domestic flight.

It happens again and again that people get in trouble in the Outback because of bad preparation. Read this story about a trekker who got in trouble. Don't rely on being as lucky as he was, mobile phones rarely work in the Australian Outback. Always take plenty of water! You'll find more tips in the Outback Guide's driving and Outback safety sections.

*Outback Events*

The Outback Odyssey If you want to do an adventurous trip in Australia, you cn join this great Outback event. Looks like some fitness is required.:) The Outback Odyssey, a bicycle ride from Adelaide to Blinman in the Flindes Ranges is really something I would do, it sounds like fun.
For more information please visit Bike S.A. You don't need to complete the entire 15 days, you can also join for stages of 5 or 6 days. If you are going to join the Outback Odyssey, please let the Bush Telegraph readers know. Thanks.

Australia, the movie

I am sure you heard about Baz Luhrmann's latest movie success called "Australia". I haven't seen the film yet, so I am really amazed to see that Australia is available on DVD from March 3, 2009. You can even pre-order it at Amazon.com right now.

If you want to know more about Outback events, or probably want your favourite Outback event listed, please contact me at the The Bush Telegraph

Last but not least, I wish all Australians a Happy Australia Day tomorrow (January 26th).

Until next time.

See ya, Rita
