* Coming Outback events *
Outback events are an enjoyable occasion for Outback folks. People travel 100 km ore more to join a race, a rodeo, or a B&S ball in the next town. Why do not join while you are out there?
16th and 17th November 2007 - Cunnamulla Fella Festival and PBR Bull Ride - Non-stop outback action. Cowboys, bull riders, shearers and stockmen will converge on the famous town of Cunnamulla in country Queensland for one of the most diverse events in the state.
29th and 30th December 2007 - The annual Carrieton Rodeo is one of the biggest and most popular in South Australia. Thousands of people come from all over Australia to participate in, see, or soak up the atmosphere of the Rodeo. Carrieton is South of Hawker in the Flinders Ranges.
31th December 2007 - New Years Eve Party - Parachilna - Live music by the BC BOYS. Guaranteed to get you dancing on High Street. Parachilna is the holding yard, the mustering point, the only place to stay & be seen, dine on fine food & wine, frock up & put on your dancing boots!
* Event Outlook *
Australia's biggest country music festival is on in January. So don't miss the next edition of the Bush Telegraph that will preview the big event.
* Outback Encounter *
The first time I approached the Outback I was in for a slight shock, sort of. We drove from Adelaide to Broken Hill. The further north we came the less cars we met on the road.
Two days later it came even worse. We prepared for a day trip to Menindee from Broken Hill. After we passed the last low ranges ... there was nothing! A wide open plain, nothing to see but shimmering images on the horizon.
If you live in a densely populated area like I do, you just can't imagine a sight like that. But the shock didn't last long. At the end of the day I thoroughly enjoyed being out there.
* Question of the month *
Perhaps the readers who are not from Australia were wondering what a B&S ball could be? This will be answered next month, either by me, or maybe by a fellow Aussie reader of this newsletter. Don't be shy. Send me an email with two or three sentences telling our readers about a B&S ball. Wouldn't it be fun to see your contribution in the next edition of the Bush Telegraph?
Until next month.
See ya, Rita
