It is generally known that Australians speak English, Australian English. It's a colouful language, the Aussies call it "strine", or Aussie slang. "G'day mate, how ya goin'?" Don't you just love to be greeted in such a friendly way? Would you understand Australians? Yes - if English is your native language. For everyone who learned English at school as a foreign language the Australian lingo can be a problem. Of course you'll get used to it, like I did. I just love Aussie slang, even if I still don't understand everything :). The Cambridge Dictionary defines strine: Australian English, or the way that Australians pronounce English words. Here the problems begin. Australians usually speak fairly quick, and they mumble! (Aussies, please forgive me, but that's the way a foreigner sees it).
